NEW AVON Perfectly Matte Lipstick review!

NEW AVON Perfectly Matte Lipstick review!

Having seen the new Avon campaign on the television, promoted by several YouTuber's and Bloggers, I thought I would test out the new "more matte than Mac" lipstick. I've seen brilliant things about this lipstick as it's supposed to be highly pigmented and long-lasting. I ordered this lipstick in two shades, "Peach Flatters" and "Red Supreme". I have two similar colour lipsticks by Mac, which I thought I would compare with.

My first comparison is between Mac Red and Avon Red Supreme. As you can see, Avon definitely lives up to their promise as being "more matte than Mac". Without a doubt, I prefer the Avon red lipstick compared to the Mac due to the feel and look on the lips. Although a matte shade, Red Supreme by Avon is far creamier when applying. I tend to find red shades rather difficult to apply due to the bold colour, but Avon's red was perfect. It was easy to apply, I find it stays on for the majority of the day (yet residue is left on cups, etc) and the matte consistency is better compared to Mac's matte shade. I also find it darker than Mac Red, which is my preferal in a red lipstick.

Peach Flatters is a rather more pink shade compared to the neutral Velvet Teddy by Mac. Compared to Velvet Teddy, I found Peach Flatters was definitely more buildable, with the
colour becoming more vibrant with the more layers put on - this makes it very versatile. However, I do prefer the shade of "Velvet Teddy" in this comparison, purely because it is more of a brown shade in comparison to the pink of the Avon lipstick. Again, Avon's Peach Flatters lipstick is very matte, I was not expecting it to be AS matte as it was. It clings nicely to the lips and brightens up any make up look! I find Velvet Teddy by Mac a little too drying for my liking, so I 100% prefer the Avon matte alternative which like Red Supreme, is silky and smooth when applying. I find Mac lipsticks sometimes fairly rough on the lips during application, so in terms of formula, I again, prefer the Avon "more matte than Mac" lipstick!

The Avon lipsticks are a fantastic, affordable comparison to Mac lipsticks and I would recommend them to everyone looking for a more budget product which is equally high in quality!

Drug Store HAUL - Wilko, Amazon, Boots

Drug Store HAUL - Wilko, Amazon, Boots

This will be my last haul of the month, as I'm putting myself on a spending ban. Luckily for me, I bought these items before March 1st, so I haven't broken my rule yet! However, we are only two days into March... I can see this being a long month of struggle.

This is just a small haul of bath things which I didn't need, but couldn't help myself. This is the reason I am going on a spending ban - I have 3 cupboards full of bath bombs, bubble baths, shower gels and moisturisers which I don't use. I want to have the chance to use some of these products up before buying anymore! That being said, here are a few more items which I just couldn't resist.

I love Lush bath-bombs, not just for the brand name, but because of the goodness the company do and the quality of the products. Yet, I have been loving Wilko's own, original bath bombs. They are just as good, loads cheaper and smell incredible! I got my bath-bombs in the flavours, 'Rhubarb & Vanilla', 'Coconut & Vanilla' and 'Strawberry & Pomegranate'. Wilko have a range of 9 different flavours which all smell amazing, and they are only 95p each! Definitely a good, cheaper alternative.

As well as these bath bombs, as part of the 'Fruits' range at Wilko, each bath bomb flavour has a corresponding bubble and body scrub in the same flavour. The bubble baths are 95p and are massive - they will definitely last you a very long time! I bought mine in the flavour "Coconut" for no other reason than I just love the smell. They smell amazing and are such good value!

Lastly from Wilko, I bought a Collection Eyeshadow in shade "05 Rosy Gold". All my make-up drawers consist of different shades of brown/gold eyeshadows as these are the colours I wear mostly on my eyes. I find them neutral but not so neutral that it doesn't look like you are wearing anything. This shade from Collection is super sparkly and light in colour which is the type of eyeshadow I love going for.

The last thing in my haul is my most favourite product of February. I found a sachet of the 'Miraculous Recovery Deep Conditioning" product by John Frieda and used it to get rid of it. However, my hair was left incredibly soft, silky and shiny. So I purchased a pot of it and the 'Extra Strength Six Effects Serum' to put on wet hair, after showering. After having used these for 1 week I am in love with this product. It is insane. My hair has never felt so healthy and shiny! This product is perfect for people with thick, dry and damaged hair.

COLLECTION HAUL 02!

Collection Haul 02!

As promised, here is the follow up to my previous post, "Collection Haul 02". I had bought too many items to be able to show it in one blog post! However, I am on a purchasing ban for the whole month of March, to reduce my spending and to use up the items I have bought before buying more. I hope you enjoy this post!

I needed something extra for my bedroom as I have many walls which are still bare. I found this in Matalan and loved it. It's the perfect colour to match my room, its large and very solid metal. What more can I say! It was in the price range, £2-£5, so very affordable.
The quotes inside the little photo-frames, I bought at a local bookshop as cards. But I loved them for my wall, so I cut them to size and placed them in the photo frames! They were only £2.50 each and decorate my wall perfectly.
I purchased these Patent Loafers from Matalan, for £15. I was pleasantly surprised! They are perfectly comfy, especially for summer when you want something other than sandals. I have gone on to buy another pair, in another colour because I love them so much!

This is the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in the shade, "Macaroon". I adore shades such as these, and they make up the majority of my lipstick collection. They are pinky/neutral on the lips making them perfect for the finishing touch to your make up look. The only downside to these, are they tend to be very soft and mine need to be kept in the fridge to ensure they are solid! This was £5.96 from Amazon.

These are silver framed avatars from H&M which I bought ready for summer. I found them just simple and cute, and they fit on my face nicely. They are only £6.99 also, so if I lose or break them, I don't have to worry about them being too expensive!
I love rummaging through charity shops, as they are full of little beautiful treasures that are totally unexpected. I was looking for a new dish in order to hold jewellery and I went into my local Sue Ryder and found this! It's perfectly large to hold several items of jewellery and its in a duck egg blue shade, matching my room. I couldn't have asked for anything better, especially or £1.50!!!
Lastly, I picked up several glitter eyeshadow paint pots. I have not experimented with these yet but I couldn't resist picking them up when I saw the colours. I picked the two Barry M ones up in the shades 87 (coral pink) and 64 (duck egg blue). For the Models Own ones, I picked up shades Denim Blue (dark blue), Silver Grey (metallic silver) and a Grey Mint (turquoise). And lastly, the unbranded one with the butterfly on the lid was in a vibrant silver shade.

COLLECTION HAUL PART 01

Collection Haul Part 01

I am a complete shopaholic, meaning that these haul blog posts will be very frequent on my blog. Pay day is the perfect excuse to go mad and do some shopping! There will be two parts to this haul as I've bought too much to be able to show it all on one blog! I will leave the links to the items in the item descriptions, where available. Enjoy!

This is the Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow, in the shade On and On Bronze. I love my neutral eyeshadow shades, and when I saw this I fell in love. Its highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way! It applies nicely and doesn't dry instantly like some cream eyeshadows - it gives you enough time to blend and cover your eyelid as you wish. It has a hint of sparkle which is nice to lift the neutral shade into something a little more special.

Anybody that knows me, knows my favourite colours are pastel shades, in baby blue and pale greens. So when I came across this handbag on Matalan's website, it was a must buy! Its a very large tote and the baby blue colour is just perfect for summer. As its very large, during the summer when I go on holiday, I can fit all my much-needed bits and bobs such as suncream, sunglasses, make up, cash, camera. I love the idea of having a long strap also, so it can easily be placed on the shoulder rather than have to hold it in the crease of your arm. Its very versatile and due to the pastel colour, it can go with many of my clothing items!

Having a new, massive Primark built relatively close to where I live, I'm forever going in there on the weekends and picking up pieces. I adore their homeware and usually spend the majority of my time looking through this rather than the clothes or shoes sections. In particular, I love their candles! These are the only candles I ever buy anymore as they smell incredible and for £2 you definitely cannot go wrong. I have tried every colour, aside from the green and pink, so I picked up these scents "Pink Grapefruit" and "Lotus Flower". I also picked up one of their diffusers in "Sweet Berry & Patchouli" for £3.

This little device is something I've been desperate for, for a long time, and not realised they existed. This strange looking comb is a wool comb, which removes any bobbly bits off leggings and jumpers. Having thrown many jumpers away because of bobbles, I'm glad I found this easy solution!

Another Primark purchase I recently got, was this little baby blue change purse. I have a gorgeous purse from Kate Hill but I have so much change that makes it bulky and I'm afraid of breaking it. So when I saw this, in the exact same colour as my bag, I couldn't resist buying it!

Many other bloggers and YouTubers have been commenting on Collagen eye masks and their brilliance in reducing puffy eyes, redness and under-eye bags. Although I don't have any of these, they are supposed to combat fatigue in the eye area. I found these on Amazon in a pack of 10 so bought them to test the recommendations. These are Crystal Collagen Gold Powder Eye Masks and I will review them as soon as I've tried them to describe any benefits!

As an English Language and Literature student, I read A LOT of books. I run a successful book club on Facebook for my Open University course and picked these out of the recommendations. I ordered the following; A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Animal Farm by George Orwell, 1984 by George Orwell, Coming Up for Air by George Orwell, The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, Talk Before Sleep by Elizabeth Berg &The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I look forward to reading them!
